Encuentro DVD incomplete and of bad ...

Hi all,

Yesterday I received Merengue de Cordoba Vol 2 although I already had bought it many years ago on video cassette.

Anyway the DVD has only 58 minutes content while the original and also as indicated in the book was one hour and 52 minutes. The quality is also very poor, just like pirated copies.

Has anyone purchased any encuentro books with the new DVD?

What annoys me most is that they don't inform the buyer of the state of the DVD.

Weird. I have only Chicuelo Tomatito and Nunez on DVD the rest on VHS...and no longer have a VHS player. Do you know what is missing? Also where did you purchase the DVD from?

Yes, I know what's missing. For example there're two Alegrias sections in the book and the DVD has only the first section. Also some palos are missing.
I bought it from La Sonanta which is the only distributer of the Encuentro series.

Yeah, DVD format sometimes does not mean DVD quality. I think for some of these series they just had the VHS tapes and no other higher quality source. But also it looks like you got a defective copy or something, better let them know and request a proper one.

Vol.1 is the one with a video length of 1h45m (105min) and a booklet of 192 pages. Vol.2 or the cante accompaniment one, is supposed to be 2h0m (120min) with a 255-page booklet. So neither is 1h52m long.

Curse of the Petenera?

I have the DVD. On mine nothing is missing, there are 120 mins. The time code only has minutes not hours, so the second hour the clock starts from 0mins again. The second hour starts with the Petenera

I can access all tracks in the book from the DVD menu. But when watching something in the first hour the time bar only shows that hour, so can only fast forward/rewind within that hour. To access the second hour I have to go back to the menu a pick a palo from there.

Thanks, that was the case. It's not missing anything.
