RE: Question- Juan Martin Book content (in reply to CEB)
I don't think the books are the best way to learn flamenco guitar (or any instrument in general). There are much better options. I am going to write some in my order of preference. (I am going to write the options assuming you are a complete beginner to flamenco listening and playing)
1) One on one classes (can be online too) from a good teacher. Ricardo (Marlow :D) is a great teacher and offers Skype classes for very reasonable prices. I did this at the beginning (may be less than I should do), and I am very happy about it.
Now, for the remaining options you should learn the fundamental right hand techniques (rasgueados, arpeggios, pulgar, alzapua, tremolo) and also understand the basic rhythmic structure of the main palos (song forms); solea, bulerias, fandangos, alegrias, tangos is good to start with. I think, before playing flamenco guitar, one should be able to do basic palmas (clapping) at least for bulerias, alegrias and tangos. The first two options will teach you these too. If you can not go for the first two options, you may also try Atrafanaschool youtube channel for the basics.
3) Real flamenco (singing) performances on youtube where you can clearly see what the guitarist is doing, understand and copy it. The following YT channel is good: Juan Rico Escribano Check the videos with Antonia Carrion, or Miguel Salado for example.
4) Alberto Luque's yt channel. If you don't like lengthy explanations and want to put to some simple falsetas under your fingers quickly. Check the playlists by palo in the channel.
