RE: New Rancapino Chico album this w... (in reply to mrstwinkle)
Man, I wish iTunes would include some form of liner notes with releases, it’s so hard to get info.
I found this on the Dario de Jerez web page:
Roughly translated:
“After almost a year and a half of meticulous work, now in record stores is 'Por mi amor al arte', the premiere release of Alonso Núñez 'Rancapino Chico'. It has been a laborious process that started officially at the end of 2017, which brought together artists and professionals from the world of flamenco on a farm in Mairena del Alcor, to record the live CD accompanied by the guitars of Antonio Higuero and Paco León, the palmas of Chicharito, Manuel de Cantarote and José Rubichi and the piano of Diego Magallanes.”

He looks surprisingly nervous for an end result that is refreshingly upbeat and shows the sentiment of the album title.
I'm becoming more an more of a convert to en directo recordings - among my other fave albums are the Circulo de Madrid Macanita with Manuel Valencia, along with Antonio Reyes and Diego del Morao. Not forgetting Camaron/Tomatito at Montreux. Something essential seems to get lost in many studio albums.

Thanks! I didn't know these. Cameron's Nuestro has been a firm favourite for years, his Flamenco Vivo is equally good. Cigala and Josele at Madrid's Teatro Real is well worth a listen too.

I guess you are talking about "Por mi amor al arte", I just stumbled upon this beautiful piece today and can't put it down. To me he's the most captivating young/new time singer I've found so far. Admitedly I don't know that many yet (Samuel Serrano, Juanfra Carrasco, Pedro El Granaino)
Sadly the CD isn't available in my country as far as I can see (Germany), but I need to get it somehow.
Anyone have infos on who the guitarist/s on this is/are?

CD is available on deflamenco.com. Seen him live in Sevilla - one guitarist uses a blanca the other a negra. The guy who plays the negra being the one playing more often. Names were earlier in thread but in Spanish - Antonio Higuero and Paco León.

Hey mrstwinkle, thanks for the quick response!
I found it in spanish shops as well, but the shipping costs are higher than the CD itself. As much as I'd love to support him by buying a CD, that's just not economical in my book. Guess I'll get one as soon as I get to visit Spain.
Great sound on the guitars, I'll check these guys out, thanks!

By chance, could anyone tell me what the elderly guy at the beginning is saying in this video?
He basically said the classic "I had the good fortune of knowing him since he was a child and he was already a phenomenon and besides that he's even better as a person".
RE: New Rancapino Chico album this w... (in reply to Deniz)
The elderly guy is a legend, amigo de Camaron, Rancapino, Morao, Cepero, Duquesa de Alba etc. Se llama Curro Romero. He even has letras flamencas dedicated to him: "Curro con el capote, Rafael con la muleta".

Thanks for the insight Morante, interesting! As I couldn't find any videos of him singing or dancing nor playing the guitar I gave him a quick google search. A torero he is.. I guess this is the side of Flamenco/Spanish culture I'll never quite grasp nor understand what people like about it.
