Anyone in Granada and Sevilla in Oct...

Dear forum friends,
I will be spending the last three weeks of October in Granada and the first two weeks of November in Sevilla for guitar accompaniment classes. If any of you will be in these cities around that time and wants to meet, please let me know. Prior coming to Granda I will stay in Malaga for three day, hope the weather is still warm enough for beach time.
Any recommendations for small Flamenco venues, (no dinner shows,) in Granada and Malaga?
Thank you.

In Granada peña la plateria (The oldest peña in the world!!) has a show open to the public on a thursday night. You can book a table (free), and it cost about €10 or 15 entry, i think! You dont need to eat, and there is a bar. A more touristy place is la chien andaluz, again you dont need to eat, and its a good atmosphere. I think most other places are tablaos. But you could try la buleria (bar in sacromonte)
In malaga the only place i have been is the the peña juan brava.

Enjoy i wish i was there!

John

Hi, I am based in Granada so feel free to message me if you want to meet up.

Rancapino Chico is playing at the Palacio de Congreso on October 18 (https://www.pcgr.org/evento/rancapino-chico-por-mi-amor-al-arte/) and there will be plenty of other stuff going on in Sacromonte and the places John mentioned above. Keep an eye on the Eshavira blog page (https://eshaviraclub.wordpress.com/) for shows there too.

My two new friends that I met at the school and I met up with Neil on Wednesday. He took us on a tapas tour. By the end of the third bar, everyone was happy and full so we skipped the fourth bar that Neil had planned. We then went to a Flamenco bar at around 11:30. We hang around til around midnight, still no Flamenco action. Since I was suffering from jet lag, I left early. Not sure if any guitarist showed up after that. But 2 well known luthiers were at the bar drinking. Neil sent me an email this morning making plan for next Friday. Thank you Neil for being so friendly and helping us discovering the local secrets.

It sounds like Neil is becoming the Foro’s unofficial ambassador for Granada. I regret that I wasn’t able to hook up with him when I made my trip in August. Hopefully I’ll be able to get back there in the spring and be able to share some tapas then.

Guitar loss aside, it seems your visit is off to a good start, it’s great making new friends.

Keep an eye on the Eshavira

Man I'm out of touch... Last time I went to Granada for more than just a few days, the Eshavira was closed with little to no prospect of opening again. Glad to hear they're back in business!

Hai, it was great to meet up with you and your two new friends. Yes, there was a little singing in the bar later from Rafa but no guitar action. However, it would great if you can come to the Rubem Dantas show at Eshavira next week. It was a shame the Rancapino Chico concert was cancelled as I was looking forward to that - apparently his illness is nothing serious. See you next week.

Yes, it was closed for a few years and the reform took longer than expected and went well over budget but it finally reopened in 2016.
