Valencia
Hi all,
in 2 weeks time I will be on a business trip to Valencia. The wednesday and maybe the tuesday late night, I have some hours to spair and was planning to see if I could visit the Burguet factory/workshop. Are there any other flamenco recomendations?
I see that there is a concert tuesday at Radio city starting at 22.30. Is that worth it (not sure if I cn make it though as we will probably have custommer dinner)?
just an update. Valencia was awesome. The radio city concert was a bit commercial but musically very tight and great fun. After the concert it turned into a 90’s disco and I cannot really remember the end of it.
The visit the Hermanos Sanchis Lopez was really humbling. While the 2 brothers continued their work, I was very warmly welcomed despite the language challenge, by their mother and allowed to play some of their guitars. Which where beautifully build and sounded great. Very sweet and melodic guitars. But if you see by the entrance the stack of wooden timber and then see the workshop where the 2 Sanchis brothers and an apprentice carve, shave, file drill. All by hand and then see such shiny, perfect, artisanal instrument standing in the saw dust, it is just unbelievable that this can be created. I profoundly started to appreciate my own instruments much more and considered to order a guitar just to support the art and craftsmanship. Really an underrated art.
A flamenco recommendation from Hermanos Sanchis Lopez was the “La Buleria” (www.labuleria.com) , which I noted down for a next visit.
