I started my guitar journey with an old Japanese acoustic guitar which was twice as my height at that time, 25 years of playing different types of string instruments I have came across many shapes, qualities and names, many of vintage, more new. It is fairly different when you have a guitar built for you by a master luthier than buying a guitar that was produced by mass, thousands maybe millions of copies with the focus on the cost and time then quality, although some are really good but in my opinion there is no better experience than watching your guitar being made from scratch and become alive in front of your eyes, yet that is all average compared to working with Lazaredis, he’s a great man, humble and genuine, he builds string instruments in the true traditional way for his love and passion to them, I’m honored to know him and soon became friends, he invited me to his ever enviable sanctuary in a fascinating little town in Greece by video calls, building my guitar in front of me, showing and teaching me things I never knew about this fascinating instrument. At the end of the few amazing months of transforming time-honoured trees to the guitar that has sole, unique character, sound and a name (which I was privileged to pick it for her), they say (wood never dies), couldn’t agree more! but this time she has beautiful voice, music!. Thank my friend Vassilis! Videos/new recording coming soon!
