Dear Guest,
If you were perhaps wondering about the lack of replies...
I can only say this...

It's great to get a slap on the back from your Mom and Dad and Uncles and Aunts and friends and strangers who know nothing about Flamenco, but think you play like a gifted genius...
Many folk have experienced that exhileration... of having a "special" facility for this kind of music and it's only a matter of a few years before Paco and Tomatito will gather you in the Flamenco fold, like a long lost brother.

But the truth of the matter is within 5 minutes of opening your guitar case in places like Jerez, actually most folk will lose interest and go back to their conversations and sipping their copas.

I'm no fancy player myself, but the great thing I like about this Forum is the fact that no matter how well you play you are subjected to great scrutiny from hundreds of aficionados worldwide..LOL!

This is a bloody hard place!! No joke!

People don't take any **** or excuses here..LOL!
You've got to be honest and humble (to a certain extent!)

We have some of the very top "foreign" players here...
Some who are virtually indistinguishable from real "top level" Spanish playing that you'd get on any CD from Spain.
And even THEY get criticized!!
Not that we are a "knocking shop" or anything..

When you join and folk get to know you and you upload some stuff, then people get a feel of your playing and can comment on your stuff in a very knowledgeable and constructive way.
They are a friendly bunch here...and as I've said in the past...when you log on here, you've got to leave your dignity at the door.
That's for sure!
But at least you'll get an honest and sincere response!

Far better that..than going to Jerez and opening the guitar case expecting to "amaze" the natives! LOL!

cheers

Ron

There are some fumbles, and some dodgy notes, but no more than you'd expect for a young player.

I notice there are two guitars on the first track I played, so it's a bit of a "con" to say it's Tom Coleman playing IMHO.

Best,

A :-)

Sometimes the people here don't even HAVE to comment. People like Grisha or Miguel have uploaded stuff before and when you hear it, you immediately feel like a landlocked person living next to a pond who sees the ocean for the first time. A big ego makes drowning a real threat, a willingness to see where we truly stand will make an able seaman of any of us here.

Thanks for the savage beatdowns all around from everyone. The (ego) bruises I recieve from here are the rare sorts that do me good.
