Hinoki wood

Hi All

Does anyone know from where to purchase hinoki wood? I live in the UK.

Yes, they did not answer my email. I only need one piece about 50mmX50mmx900mm. I guess they only want to sell truckloads.

I can get you a piece 5 x 5 x 9 cm. if you pay the shipping. I have that in my shop. Otherwise, hinoki does not commonly get exported from Japan as raw lumber. It might be difficult to find. What do you need it for?

Thank you very much for your kind offer. I will contact you privately to make arrangements.

Actually I need the wood because I want to test myself. I use kanna a lot in my work, and I want to see how thin I can make shavings. The world champion shaving being 9 microns thick. The reason I need 900mm long is because I hate wasting wood, and I thought that I can perhaps use it for purflings etc.

I sent your email back. I can help you get the Hinoki. But I wanted to mention on the cello a made two years ago I used Hinoki plane shavings to make the purfling. So you can get purfling with the kanna from this wood.

I found a perfect peice of hinoki- I'll email you later with details. It is 90 x 3.5 x 6cm if that dimension could work. The wood is vertical grain ten years old.
