More terrorism in the US has been perpetrated by white males than any other demographic group. That is a fact no one likes to talk about. There is also less terrorism today than there was in the 1970's- The politicians like to play with the darkness and fear that most people live in suburban and rural areas get tweeked out by. They are geographically isolated from diversity so they don't trust "the other" that politicians objectify. People like Steve Bannon are particularly artful in this deception. Those who live in cities are not as driven by xenophobia, which is what it is, and the Bannon's of this world are like vampires who feed on that fear and xenophobia as they whip it up in peoples unconscious. He's really a demented conspiracy nut. with a lot of money. He's like annoying like Michael Moore, but far more dangerous. __________ New immigrants crack me up, a generation or two after they get to the US they often become staunchly conservative. I'm not faulting that or saying they are wrong, our white paddie ancestors did the same thing. Half my family went conservative and half went liberal democrat- or what was liberal in the 1920-30's 40's. My Swedish family was mostly liberal, my Texas Jewish/holyroller converso family was fairly uptight and draconian conservative. Reagan worshipers, FDR haters, Nixon apologists. My moms tribe. My dads tribe, democrat working class drinks on Christmas and eats to much lutefisk and Swedish meatballs, well except my dad, uncle and their cousin Stanley, they were naughty boys drinking and taking drugs. But anyway, immigrants, my Swedish great grandmother who was my grandfathers mother was politically active, she used to go the meetings when the men did not want women around talking politics. She was funny, she had dementia most of the time I knew her as a child but in her moment of lucidity she sang Swedish songs and carols. When I was nine I wished i had a lot of money because I wanted to take her to Sweden to show me around. Ha ha that would have been an odd trip. - My great aunts used to watch her too close and worry about what other people thought of my Swedish great grandmother, their mother. My dad called his aunts "the silly sisters" - When Hilda, my grand grandmother she was from Stockholm, was beginning to get dementia she was aware of it and she would get peeved her daughters the silly sisters were freaking out about it. She used to mess with them. I remember she got a new bra for Christmas and since she was like 92 at the time she did not get a lot of new clothes. One f the silly sisters said real loud to her, "It's a bra momma!" Then Hilda opened it up and put in on her head like a bonnet. "Oh like this?" As she tied the straps under her chin. I really liked her, she was great. But immigrants who go super conservative and want to shut the gate remind me of a joke- What is the difference between a developer and an environmentalist? An environmentalist already has his house in the forest built.
