Left hand exercises anyone ?

hola,
Being new not only to flamenco but guitar in general, i find a lot of my shortcomings are not from the right hand techniques but just the lack of dexterity in the left hand. Ive been practicing the crab exercises for a while now,it helps but im far from being able to do it at a normal speed, The barre exercises in the manual granados books have also been helping strenght and endurance ( actually, i was wondering if posting them having changed the order of notes would still be illegal copywright wise). Anyone have exercises they would like to share ?

RE: Left hand exercises anyone ? (in reply to dyst0pian

that would be walking up 1&3 then 2&4 to each string, or sequential string and so on...

a bit boring really, why not learn to play flamenco instead

dyst0pian: why not just learn a few falsettas from tab and as you practice, your dexterity, strength and accuracy will no doubt increase.

I know plenty of classicaL players who swear by exercises. Also, Gordon Giltrap's website has some interesting ones, but I would NOT recommend them to a beginner since you could hurt yourself if you are not careful.

Not all classical playeres study left hand stuff like this. It just so happens I play in a hardcore band, and I'm obsessed with hammerons, I do a lot of them in my Band. I love like the hammeron type runs that Satriani uses. Any way in saying that I still have problems with the Flamenco left hand stuff, but not as much as that damn Pulgar.

Nope left hand needs practice every day thanx though.

Ha thats cool Edgar. I listened to hardcore for about 4 years before playing guitar. At first i learned guitar to play some converge, but then i thought that kind of guitar playing just doesnt work if you only like playing by yourself and not in a band. Thats when i discovered flamenco, where just a single guitar can play and its still music, not just guitar .
