I recommend this letra of Juan Moneo 'El Torta'; 'Un viaje al cielo'
It's a reminder of 'Luis de la Pica'
Moreover, I like specially these tangos because it's a very interested 'toque' of Torta's nephew (Juan Manuel Moneo), due to it's played using 'Taranta' chord with capo at 2.

The whole point of this thread was to find letras that I / anybody else could have a crack at singing - so (for me) the original performance is hugely important - does the performance inspire the effort of trying to learn? Exactly like choosing falsettas to learn. Afterwards, do the words themselves spark anything in the imagination? Here is the poetic component - a picure or connection in the mind's eye that goes beyond melody and interpretaion /duende. I like Juana's letra about Jasmins (in the Puro y Jondo performance Lenny posted) because my lady and I are very different and have very different tastes and that can cause bad emotions sometimes. I like her letras about singing tangos by the river because I often go and sing and swim at a river in the forest here. I like the Duquende tangos because he sings it great and it's a classic theme of the pains of love. That very classic letra about the flags on the bridge of Triana does nothing for me - but had I visited Triana in its heyday then perhaps that would be different.
So I probably won't both with the Jagger letra - unless someone here puts in a great performance with it first. Aller Piwin !!!

The politically inclined usually substitute "Las banderitas gitanas" with "Banderas republicanas" ("Republicanos" being those who opposed Franco's rebels during the Spanish Civil War)
