Question for all the working artist on here, how do you fund your new albums, art work, equipment, nail polish, tampons, hookers, blow, etc....? Is it purely through gigs and or students? Or through other sources?
RE: Indie artists, how do you fund? (in reply to flamencositar)
Everyone has side jobs, even if they are hesitant to admit it. However, the main thing about self-funding is being smart about spending. I admit it blows my mind that people pour thousands of dollars into recording an album when the cost of a good studio including a computer and necessary programs is maybe ~$2,000, it is relatively easy to figure out mixing/mastering for solo guitar, and CD duplication can cost less than a $1 for a CD. Costs end up being recouped fairly quickly with CD sales and performances... at least, that's been my experience.
