Great guitar accompaniment (Niño Mi...

this seems to me like really supporting the cante and at the same time adding so much to it (@ 34:40)

(one of Niño Miguel's better moments in old age too)

Especially considering that he seems to be suffering under the side-effects of long term
antipsychotic medication, influencing his motor functions (tardive dyskinesia).

after watching a bunch of vids i think i'll turn this into a Niño Miguel thread

here's Niño Miguel in the early years, so no one forgets what he was capable of

i read and hear so much complaining about YouTube. I feel lucky to live in an age when i can discover these things on my computer or smart phone. (btw, can't find this on Spotify)

can anyone around here transcribe this stuff? i would love to steal a lick (ok, falseta) or two here and there

anyway, here it is enjoy @5:05

also, a great duo @11:24 after the short interview. hell, just keep listening to the non-strings version of "Vals Flamenco"

Niño Miguel on Vimeo (in reply to DavRom

stop following me around with that camera, i'm chasing girls (Niño Miguel on Vimeo)

everyone loves a good pedal point/bass...

https://vimeo.com/46215815

that can seem sad, but please see the lighter side and celebrate his humanity.
he said as much in the dedication of his plaque (@58:55) "Let's not fool ourselves, we're human, agreed?"

i know Spanish speaking people who would watch this and think, not knowing better, that he was just a drunken burnout. But, if you listen carefully it's a very lucid statement

the interviewer in the old video above says at one point (just before the duo) that Niño Miguel is not the verbal type. I beg to differ. He may have been a man of few words, but when he spoke he said a lot with those few words. this is confirmed many times in "La Sombra..."

i feel for some of you, cuz as a fluent Spanish speaker i had to listen several times to understand what he was saying (i mean sonically AND intellectually). so, i'm happy to accept the drunken burnout moniker too

you never know where the good stuff will come from

like Mortimer Adler once said, "A great book is worth reading over and over again."

"cuando quiera usted maestro"

as if to say, when ever you feel like stopping by my shop with your guitar. Niño Miguel looks beaten but sounds great

and that voice, strange and very attractive with its cante jondo (is it? help me out fellas this is good stuff). Brujo indeed!

"Tu padre no quiere que yo venga a verte." yeah stay away. lol

seriously...i like that voice (@35:48)

You are condemned to be locked in a room for 5 hours, trying to play guitar for Agujetas
