My name is Arturo, I'm 19 and acutally living in Liège, Belgium (little country next to Germany, France, Luxembourg and Holland). Well, I've subscribed to this forum some months ago but while I was writing my intro my computer crashed and I lost the fire for making a new one. Anyway, I'm of Andalucian and Gypsy roots from my mother and Flamenco was like the "big achievment" for me, since I heard it for the first time, when I was a little boy.
I'm also apprentice Luthier (Guitar), and my goal is to make Flamenco guitars and to learn how to make other instruments such as Shamisen or Ud. I'm playing guitar since I'm 14 (Blues, Funk, Soul, Jazz, etc) but never felt ready to take a step into Flamenco, because I knew it would start a mystical initiation to my ancestors traditions and way of life. But I started studying the Bulerias compás some month ago, and when I learned by my grandmother she was a Flamenco cantador back in Granada, I thought it was time for me to study Flamenco guitar.
So I'm actually taking lessons (I just started actually) and I'm going to travel through Andalucia from Liège to Jerez de la Frontera, by hitchiking, with my guitar. I choose to travel at the beginning of my learning to seal some kind of "pact" with Flamenco and its spirit. Also because I think I should be inhabited by its essence : by stepping by myself on its native land, the way of living of those who created it and also the spiritual/mystical/religious dimensions.
I also have to meet a luthier in Almeria ! :)
Voilà, I've found this forum via others websites on the internet and after reading a bunch of thread, it looked like quite a good place to meet other passionate from all around the world.
Also I saw there was German and French people, it could be fun to meet and share/play together some day !
thats very nice intro flaco ... I liked the bit where you tell us where Brussels is located ... just in case .. even though Belgium (Brussels) is capital and home to the headquarters of the European Union. .... the little country , as you put it ..
hitchhiking with your guitar through Andalucia .... its gonna be one of the most memorably journeys of your life , that you will tell your grandchildren ... take a diary to write your thoughts in ...
good luck ...you will pass foro members on the way that might help out ..
