Garmi Mint Abba

This is triggered by Bill Barkell's mention of his having lived in several Muslim countries, and becoming fond of hearing the Muezzin's call to prayer. Those of us with such musical/vocal tastes may enjoy listening to and watching a Mauritanian woman, Garmi Mint Abba, accompanied by a mix of both modern and traditional instruments, sing (in Arabic? Berber?) in a manner I find absolutely captivating. As all her YouTube listings are in Arabic script, the best way to access her is to enter "YouTube Garmi Mint Abba" and scroll through the various entries. She and her music are best presented in long small concert settings--I would recommend looking for one of 56.12 minutes, labeled Bellwarmedia and dated 2012, and also one labeled Tairtantani, 43.04 minutes, dated 2011, though there are many, many videos available. Not everyone's cup of tea to be sure, but I find her singing and the music irresistible.
