RE: Caveat Emptor (in reply to Ricardo

Yeah man, but don’t forget that people believe what experts say…
for instance Nino Seve told me that this guy is THE expert in PDL
and that he also consults him often in Malaga, and Seve is a great gypsy player,
also Antonio Rey himself says here (min. 1:09)

that even Paco de Lucia himself was amazed to see how RD played his music at eighteen etc, that’s the problem, you see…?
cause all this guys are great players and people will not care for what we say…

and I checked the link he posted from El Pais and unfortunately its true, here you can see

unfortunately people read things like that and don't know the whole deal about paco and his guitars. People forget already the same quote from some other magazine years back where he says the guitar has superior tone and projection, and didn't like to play it at home because it was HARD to play, that's all. It has a stiffer action but sounds good, but he would rather play a ****ty sounding guitar at home that is easy to play. That's all there is to it. Anybody that plays a lot live knows when you are nervous you can play too hard at times and easy low action guitars often give out. THat's the nervous energy thing he talks about, so such a guitar as his is not so fun at home but delivers the goods on stage (obviously).

And to go back further, this guitar and the one he used right before this with guitar trio 1980 are replacements for his FAVORITE guitar that was stolen in 1979 from his car...also a Conde negra from 70's. So he found replacements for his BEST guitar that were very similar....but the BS that he hated the guitar etc is a cute exageration he liked to make, calling guitars in general his enemy etc because they make him work hard. People need to get a grip.

Good post Ricardo. And a good example on how poorly we read.

I have no doubt that RD (ahhh, the name came up) knows a lot about PDL and that he can play a million of notes in a minut, but his total lack of respect towards anything or anyone, just makes me push the mute button.
I find him to be even more annoying to listen to than politicians. They also get the mute button.

expert my a$$

Lawyers.....business....competition.....bad mouthing.....
using comments of poor paco and economical situation and gulibility
of some good players to spread ones own bullcrap...

Even the world of flamenco is now infected with this sh!t.

Nino Seve always plays a Conde in his concerts btw.
Maybe he hates his Conde like Paco and only plays it because he is a masochist
and loves the pain and got used to it during all these years ..roflol.
At home, on his bed, when no one listens, he then switches
back to his real good comfortable good sounding dream (you know which) guitars.

Never heard about it. If he was so great, why then did Paco only speak of players like Nuñez, Riqueni, Vicente, etc in interviews? Why did he choose to bring instead Cañizares, Jose Maria Bandera, or Josele on his tours? Anybody that is a true aficionado should see the difference between reality and marketing. Further, "experts" on Paco and his music abound. A. Rey seems to be a nice guy and we already talked about that connection in another thread. I know personally some people that have been ripped off by this individual, I see no need to further promote him or his ideas.

I love how his own guitars become crap when a new model comes out.

yeah, those who bought his cypress models with ebony fingerboard now have to watch the revolutionary videos

"why a cypress guitar is an obsolete concept today"
and
"Ebony Fret-board is Obsolete Choice in Flamenco Guitars Today"

I can already see the title of his final video

"Why Paco de Lucia is obsolete today. Myth VS facts. A & Q, Modern Flamenco Guitar Today"

Ha.. I often wondered about the speedy ' I'm on the Colombian marching powder' vibe of his videos .. All without prejudice of course

The analogy to the strat/tele guitars was also my first impression .. Who would buy one of these I wonder?

Sorry, but I cant listen to this guy anymore.
His a mental maniac and he just gives bad energy. I cant hear any music in what he plays. His videos sound of bath tub and the words that comes out of his mouth are very offensive to persons doing what I´m doing as profession.
If he came to my door, I would not let him in. And I dont care if he brought 100 top flamenco players with him and they were all standing out there in the rain. I wouldnt let them in.

The only thing obsolete these days are the stream of RD apologists and shills that cruise the Foro.

Cypress is obsolete? Ha, Cypress is THE ONLY good wood.

RE: Caveat Emptor (in reply to estebanana

Yeah you are right, if great guitar makers in the past 100 years made only cypress for flamenco
then nobody should try anything different, why sould they…?

and the same with the fretboard… if until now tradition was pro-ebony freeboard, then ebony is the ONLY possibility
and that’s how should stay forever, there is no need to try any other woods, nothing can be improved on that territory…

Despite this facts here he is saying that all of our guitars are just

“…the same of the same of the same of what we haven’t even realized is the same of the very same boring thing plus an obsolete thing…”

he said that flamenco and classical guitars are also the same…with the same materials same bridge etc… apparently only what he is doing is original.
The bad news are that now Spain is inundated with those “revolutionary” guitars , you should see how badly all people is falling in to the trap of the so called “different concept”
just see one of the greatest players here
imagine those who don't know about the subject...

Things can’t be improved...flamenco guitars should stay the same forever IMO

Anyway we will have to learn to live with that…and stay with our beloved traditional guitars

Carlolee, I suspect you to be R Diaz or his shill. I have deleted all your YouTube links in this thread. Reverse psychology only goes so far in marketing.

This thread in general doesn't make sense as it's about discussing one loco's idea about good guitar wood

Checked some of his past comments and honestly I don't think this is RD.
He would never say "beautiful guitar" about any other guitar other than his own

http://www.foroflamenco.com/tm.asp?m=211260&appid=&p=&mpage=1&key=&tmode=&smode=&s=#262534

Maybe one of his new followers whome RD then asked to post some comments or whatever..

But anyway, such threads suck anyway as usual ...close and move on

Maybe "beautiful guitar" is now the new "spanish guitar" and his own became "exceptional guitars".

Anyways, I can imagine him saying most of what has been written here... I can even hear the accent, that's why Iam laughing
