Guitar Teacher in Jerez/Sevilla? 
Hey Guys!

I been playing flamenco guitar for almost a year now and have been getting more and more into it. It has taken over my life!! So much so that I'm packing my bags and going to Spain for a few months. Bit nervous as I have no idea what i'll be doing. My guitar teacher here in Australia lived in Jerez for 5 years and told me to go there over Sevilla. I'm tossing up between the 2 cities.

MY QUESTION though is : What are your recommendations for good teachers in JEREZ or SEVILLE.

I will be spending 80% of my time there playing and getting lessons. So I'm hoping to get a few lessons a week. So maybe even a school is a better option.

(I'm pretty keen on living Jerez but open to Seville to.)

There's much less compas in Jerez. I know this from loads of people who live or go there frequently.
In Seville you have hundreds of good options.
Personally I can recomend you a very good pro guitarist who asks for really low money for example:

Not true, you just have to know where to go, just as our foro member Morante. Also almost every guitarist there can give you lessons, so just go and ask a guitarist you like. Also many of the famous ones give lessons such as Diego del Morao but they can cost a bit more. 20-30 euros per hour in private seems normal.

Take lessons from Jorge Castaneda.
20 €/hour
he's a top guitarist and the best teacher I know.
Be careful, everyone will try to rob you, never say you've got money ;)
Jorge is one of the few I trust.
I give you his phone number, he speaks 5 languages fluently, maybe good thing for you.
Jorge is a very nice guy, if you're nice too he will show you the best places in jerez.
Jerez is not easy, but I love this city, I learned there so much.

Wow, this the biggest crap i read here on this foro.
99% of guiris don't even know what compás or sonikete is and you mean they can judge the jerez guys??? They won't even survive one night in santiago.
correct that AMATEUR singers are a bit ignorant about everything that isn't bulería or tangos, but you have to know the people good and play at a good level to notice that.
The most people from outside are idiots who don't even speak 1 word spanish, and complaining that it's not easy to get "accepted".

Maestro Balao is a good teacher if you play at a high level, otherwise you won't learn anything.

¡Olé! If there is one place in Andalucía, with more compás and more respect for the cante, I don´t know it. Flamencos go to Sevilla because that is where the agents are and work can be found.

There is nothing in flamenco like the barrio de Santiago.

crazy, I've never seen a place where the Arte is lived like that (Jere). And if you have sensitiveness you will learn ****loads

If you don't have accommodation, Agustin de la Fuente offers both classes and you can live in his house during the sessions. I never did it myself but I had a chat with him once where he told me that. He is a good player but very expensive. I can give you the number

Thanks Jof. Checked out some of Jorge's videos. Fantastic! I will definitely take your advice & pay him a visit. Yes if you don't mind sending me his contact details. I also heard about Maestro Balao from my teacher here in Australia. Heard while you are sitting in his living room waiting for your lesson, you meet many other flamenco students. Haha. Sounds interesting.

Also you have me very curious haha...In what ways did you mean Jerez was not easy? I like way you guys are so passionate and respectful towards Jerez. Can't wait to see it for my self.

Interestingly enough I actually tried to book the accommodation of Agustin through airbnb but it was occupied on the nights I arrive. And as you say....It was quite expensive. Any idea what he costs per hour?

you know, there is a difference between artists who are mainly focused on foreigners (they are used to people who have money and maybe even are used to luxury what means, accommodation + classes all inclusive kind of thing) and local more down to the earth kind of people. If you speak spanish I'd just go to sessions and directly talk to guitarists I'd sleep somewhere cheap and spend the money on classes instead. what jof told you with 20€ is already a quite neat price. agustín takes at least 40 I'd say but I don't know. He is quite a nice guy and would take you to the places in the city too I reckon.

rinconesconluz, rentalia, milanuncios , there you can find accomondation.
Class prices are 15-40 euros in private per hour. Best place to learn flamenco is jerez
