Hubby plays Eliasson

I saw Scottish Folk singer songwriter RM Hubbert (Hubby) on TV the other night playing a cool sounding negra. Head stock looked familiar and then I realised it is one of Ander's guitars. Great sound from what looked like a cedar top. Crisp, clean and very open. Well done Anders.

Hubby does indeed play one of Anders' guitars. He's sometimes known as R M Hubbert. Here's tae us, wha's like us…?

I like the second song. The arpeggios to end sound very nice to my ears.

(PS has anyone noticed he has massive hands?)

Also, I never expected to the name of this forum's Elliasson associated with Arab Strap's Aidan Moffat! Arab Strap were one of my favourite bands of my youth.

That guitar is from 2008 - 2009.
A big sounding and fast Cedar top negra. I pesonally prefer cedar over spruce on negras but they are difficult to sell because of all the myth and internet blah blah, so I build very few.
It has funky bloodwood bindings. Cedar and Indian rosewood can look a bit dull, so it helps adding some color here and there. Hubby is very happy with it and he has used it for his recordings. He won a big price last year, I think. Best scottish album of the year or something like that. Its great to hear a talented musician who is not afraid of trying different ways and capable of keeping tradition at the same time.

Really good sounding guitar Anders and a surprise to see it being played on local TV.
Hope you're good?

I´m ok, struggling but surviving.

Cedar top negras can be very interesting. I find them to be more lively and fun than sprucetop negras, but maybe a tad less controlable.

Thanks to the OP for posting this.

I never knew of him til reading it and I've been loving listening to one of his albums.

(kudos to Anders for making such a great guitar. It shows flamenco guitars can be used for a wide range of musical styles)

My DeVoe ( cedar negra - while me rather being a spruce guy) inspires to all kinds of music.
And my first decent guitar, which teenage yours had found favourite in a stores stock despite of much more expensive classicals in there, was intended to be a flamenca too, whilst I had no clue that this Aria factory make was meant to be a `flamenco guitar´.
-

When still coming from the mediocre shelf ( and being a bastard player / tinkering in all styles) you might be consciously seeking sustain as the refreshing feature of quality ( similarly to things like fast response, clarity etc.), just in contrast to your dull entry level axe.
- Only to figure out later on that unconsciously it has been / are those fast decaying flamencas that literally rock your boat.
-

Would be nice besides if those who have an account on YT could be leaving a comment or two about Anders´guitars under this artists´video. ( Even if you havn´t had one in hands yet, it is obvious what bargains they are, seeing what you get for such money from common shelves.)
Comments could possibly inspire the artists to confim, which would be even better ( and actually due, I think.)
