does anyone here on this board practice cante and toque together for flamecno, y'know kinda like a any other type of muscians.
i understand cante is difficult but is it really necessary to cut the two from each other? is there a reason for such specialisation in the flamenco world, ie social hierarchy, etc. or has it always been like this.

i do a lot of singing with my stereo. (when im sure nobodys listening!! ) sometimes i play a-long with my guitar, sometimes i sing along. when i can´t sing a phrase i stop and repeat it untill i have the basic idea how it goes. I also do palmas trying to place it rythmicaly while singing or huming.
I do it cause i want to be a better guitarist. and i want to improve my feeling of the compas
The mystarie to me is how people can start to clapp the compas in the middle of a martinete phrase!?! It must mean that they hear the rythm inside that ayyayyaaay...and i can´t thats why i sing to the stereo..silly huh

Oh, well not me, because i cant sing , well not in front of people anyway, but i am sure theres pple out there who do it, there is a guy in Melbourne named Manolo who about 15 years ago back was one of the top guitarist in Australia, from what i hear he mostly sings now but he has had to accompany himself on a few ocassions, i imagine that you can only do 1 at the time really good because both arts demand so much concentration.
I imagine that when he did accompany himself it would have to be very very minimalistic, chords and very simple falsetas if.

Camerón could sing and accompany himself. I have seen a few guitarists here in Spain who accompany themselves, Antonio Campos, El Pollito to name two and I am sure there are more.
