RE: Antonio Rey (in reply to Grisha)

quote:
ORIGINAL: Grisha I recently had a conversation with Antonio online. I sent him one of my picado exercises and he asked if I wanted his opinion on it. Then he said that my picado in weak and he doesn't like it. He then told me the problem was my straight finger position. He said he had the same issue in the past, but now he learned from Paco (he said Paco showed him his technique) and he is now faster, cleaner and more powerful. He offered to show this to me, but at the time I had to go teach and asked to postpone the lesson. It never happened. In the past I tried to switch to a different position in picado, but always failed. I think my brain is just not flexible enough. I just got the audio file from my Tokyo concert, and my picado is weak, uneven and slow in comparison. Maybe I should go study with Antonio... Perhaps when He was younger but based on all vids in THIS thread, there ain't nothing different with his technique at all. He is an monstrous player, and it all emanates, as I could tell coming from the stage, right from his corazon. I love his musicality and spirit and love of the guitar and music and flamenco. But he AINT PACO. look no further than his interpretation of Solea (gallo from duende album) and guajiras (if you are his facebook buddy). Man I feel the love shining through but it is not close. But guess what.... IT"S OK!!! it's totally cool that it's not the same playing or guy. And same goes for you too grisha and everybody else. Don't get all crazy everybody wondering in the mirror why we ain't paco....we just are ourselves. It's THAT simple really. You play fast and express and do what you need to do and struggle etc. Paco the same as us. But different. At least you didn't name that Kema guy again!
