Another beginner question..

Hi guys. Hope you're all doing great.

Okay so thanks to you guys, I'm starting to learn flamenco. I don't have a flamenco guitar for now, but I already got a cheap classical on which I lowered the action few days ago! My classical has a spruce top and a bright sound. I'm not an expert by no means, but I'm just happy with the sound.

I filed down the saddle actually. I couldn't go as low as I had intended.. of course there's this issue about the classical guitar bridge. I read the bridge should be lower on a flamenco.. but anyways, here's some numbers about the current action on my guitar (after the work's been done)

String height/12th fret:
3.8 mm / bass
3 mm / treble

String height at the bridge:
9.5 mm / bass
8.5 mm / treble

Having read previous threads here, I understand it's not the ideal action for flamenco, but I feel I can't/shouldn't get the action on mine any lower.. I'm hearing some buzzes on the basses but only when plucked very strongly, if it matters!

Finally to my question..

If I learn flamenco on my guitar with the current action, for a year or so before purchasing a proper flamenco guitar, would I develop any bad habits I might carry with me when I start using a flamenco guitar? Has anyone practiced (or currently practicing) on a guitar similar to mine (with a similar action) and do you see it working for you?

I played on a "Dean España" for over a year with 0 modifications until I got a flamenco. The only bad habit I picked was driving the strings too hard but I adjusted to that within a couple weeks. I feel like the other one made me work so hard that when I got a good one it was like the thing nearly played itself. Sooooo much more comfortable and easy to play. Your fine hombre just play.

I heard I'd find "golpes" a bit awkward on a guitar with a relatively higher action. I'm wondering whether this would be the case with me as well considering the numbers I mentioned about the action on my guitar.

This and, if you wouldn't mind, where exactly on the guitar should I fit the golpeador? Is the surface "under the strings" included too?
And how much thick must the golpeador be?

Excuse me for asking all that.. I pretty much got no idea.

Okay, mira hombre. Your string height wont have any affect on your ability to do golpes, I golpe the crap out of all the horribly set up wanna be classical guitars at Guitar Center with no problem, they love it lol.

Get yourself a "kling on", available here:

and it'll look something like below except it'll probably cover part of your rosette, maybe not, doesn't matter. The area in which your going to be "golpeing" (golpeando) is probably no bigger then 1 square inch.

Don't think so much, use the little search box above, go on youtube and get to it hombre. It's the only way.

Thanks alot Lenador.

I did search youtube, google..etc. but wasn't quite sure. I was looking for some advice from real flamenco players, hence I chose to ask here in the foro.

And that was real helpful.. much appreciated.

To be honest, I'm not sure why golpeadores are that big........Does anyone here bottom golpe below the rosette(you shouldn't be that close to the sound hole

) ??? Or top golpe right next to the bridge????
