If you suffer from thin weak nails, like me and use a 560mm +/- scale length flamenco guitar, you will know how frustrating having to continually re cover your nails with silk/superglue.
Traditional cyanoacrylate is very brittle and as such you may find after an alegria and buleria, the edges lifting up to catch the strings as you play.
Well your troubles have now been minimised by those clever bods at Loctite adding rubber to the superglue thus making the finish more elastic. This elasticity counteracts the chipping brittle nature of superglue.
For those of you unsure what to do with your nails: file them at 45 degrees and round the corners, cut some silk, apply glue and then the silk on top and use a clean needle to press the silk into the glue; let it dry, cut edges off, file back and then apply some more glue over the leading edge and file smoothe when dry. It won't give you Paco's nails but it will improve your practice to manicure ratio!!!

I've wondered about the rubberized CA; I've seen it in my local store. In your experience does it actually reduce chipping a significant amount? How about nail rigidity (compared to normal CA)? Or does the flexy-ness of the glue also reduce this?

It's just gel super glue. That "control loctite" is just name for the form of the bottle. Same stuff, just more expensive than the others. It's possible to buy much cheaper for example at stewmac, or just buy any other gel superglue that doesn't say "loctite". I've paid 4 euros in spain and finland for three gram tube. Luckily it's not for my nails.

It does reduce chipping significantly, but there is always that heavy pulgar run that may just abrade it after 45 minutes practice. I find that the silk will shear and lift before any chipping on the Medios and Anular, and don't need to cover the Index as its arching makes it strong enough. My main problem is that I have porous hands and the acidic sweat even permeates through the nails causing the superglue bond to break after a day or two (I just burn through bass strings!). Obviously the glue's elasticity causes the impact to be rebounded to a degree. I have never found another glue to equal this.

It is not just gel superglue, although it comes in gel form. You can smell the rubber in the mix which you cannot in the ordinary Loctite gel.

Yeah, I don't think gel and rubberized are the same either. A local lumber store has a complete line of CA's: super thin (watery), medium, thick, extra thick, and rubberized though I'm not sure how they categorize its viscosity.

Ultimamente he usado en las uñas un producto llamado Findgers....es un poco dificil de encontrar, y funciona como el Loctite, contiene cianocrilato, pero con la particularidad de que al ser quitado no daña la capa superficial de la uña, alguien mas lo usa?

Power Flex Gel Control ,,, i thought by the title of the thread it was some kind of sexual long lasting lady pleasing product review here..... Disappointing that it only for nails .....

Exactamente Jof, de ese producto se trata, lo venden en algunos Corte Ingles como el de Sevilla, pero no en todos....es un poco complicado de encontrar, pero si, exactamente es eso.....deja las uñas muy bien despues de su uso.

I've been using this impact resistant Loctite for years. It's by far the best stuff I've found. If I build up several layers to get some thickness, it gets really strong without getting brittle, and I don't have to worry about my nails at all.
