Hi there and How'z it flamenco amigos. I have been consumed with Flamenco for over 8 years, I live on Maui. My wife and I are planning a trip to Spain. I have to admit, in the past few years, I have passed on traveling to Spain in trade for nicer newer hotter flamenco guitars. They set me back, but now I'm ready. I want lessons in Flamenco, Only I have no clue as to where to go. Jerez is my priority, but I'm considering Sevilla, Madrid, Cadiz. I get to spend three weeks, and I'm not sure if its better to spend longer in a few areas, or a couple days in various places to see more locations in Andalusia. First time trip for me. I'm definitely still in shock over the loss of Paco. I know we have some incredible artists, but its up to us now to keep the artist (Paco) close to our hearts and continue to thrive in keeping the art of Flamenco passionate and in honor of him.
Favorite artists are Paco, Moraito, Vicente , Antonio Rey, Pepe Habichuela, Diego del morao, Anton Jimenez. You get the picture.
Gracias, mahalo, thank you for all good advice Aloha Abe (mauiflamenco)

For a first time trip I'd suggest touring Andalucia, rather than staying in one place. Visit tablaos, peñas, bars, get imbued with the atmosphere...
That being said, do you have a teacher in Maui (if so what does he/she suggest)? If not, and you want to work on basic techniques, you'd probably be better off with one-to-one lessons (so don't go to one of the workshops offered by well-known tocaores).
If your Spanish isn't very(!) fluent and if you're not completely comfortable moving around in an unfamiliar society, you probably shouldn't try to find a teacher once there. There a numerous schools that offer tailored classes, AND you can book online from abroad (one example - among many others - that I've been pleased with in the past is "Taller flamenco" in Sevilla. Hope this helps!

Go to Jereeeeeee When you only spend 3 weeks there don't go to such a school (in case you really want to learn something) Just go every night to one of the numerous Bars and Penas, listen, play, enjoy And if you want to, ask someone for private lessons. No problem with that. You can learn from them a lot more than just playing guitar.
