D'addario EJ25B - 6th E String Opinions?
Hello, I'm new to the forum. I'm a complete beginner and enthusiast of Flamenco music. The deal is, I have a Yamaha CG172SF Flamenco Guitar, and I was going to replace the strings and decided on the "D'Addario Pro Arte EJ25B" composites for Flamenco Guitars. The 6th E string however has a "softer/thinner" section at one of the ends. Now, as I understand this is done intentionally by D'Addario to allow for an easier knot, to relieve initial tension, and as a general locking feature. My question is, should I use this arguably thinner, more fragile section of the string as intended and tie it up? or, Should I cut this part off and use the normal wound part at the bridge? My concern is twofold, tone and longevity. I'm afraid that, since it is thinner and appears more fragile, it will snap or maybe even unravel itself from the its core. I tried to research this further, but was unable to find any useful information on this. I'm hoping some of you here have seen this and have perhaps some experience with these type of strings. Any opinions and suggestions welcomed and appreciated. I am aware that this has been discussed briefly here before, but no general consensus was reached, and maybe now some of you have dealt with this. Here's is the link to that thread. http://www.foroflamenco.com/tm.asp?m=179171&appid=&p=&mpage=1&key=&tmode=&smode=&s=#179171 Thank you for your help!
