Beginner - is Cordoba ok?

I'm just starting out in Flamenco guitar and can get a lightly used Cordoba 75f for about $450us. I've found differing opinions on this guitar - most saying it's nothing special. It seems like a decent price for a beginner guitar though - any opinions?

Thanks!
Mike

Mike,

Why don't you buy a brand new "Yamaha CG171SF" for $350 US? Check out the description at www.music123.com. They even have free shipping if you are in US. My friend bought one and he is very happy with it.

Ramin

Thanks for the replies - I'll see if I can check out the Yamaha locally.

If you play ten of the 75f's you might find a good one! A good one is worth having for that price.

1 out of 10 - not very good odds! I have played it and it seemed nice, but at my level it's pretty tough to know. Price isn't a real big factor for me - I'd like something that will serve for a few years. What's the next step up?

Hola

I saw a Valeriano Prodigio in the workshop the other day and it was quite impressive: reasonable spruce top, 3rd quality cypress, well balanced, if a little lacking in trebles (carbon strings would help) and well set up. It cost 640 euros in Algodonales and I thought it was worth it. What it costs elsewhere, of course, could change the equation.
