Perpendicular fingers

Does you right hand always need to be perpendicular to the guitar strings? I know when playing Picado it's a must, but what about other things like Arpeggio Tresillos? My hands just feel so much more comfortable when they are slightly not perpendicular.

How do you know its a must for picado, but you're unsure about
other stuff?

Haha i have never actually had a lesson before, but i saw a video where it said to have your fingers perpendicular when playing picado. I also see some people play with perpendicular fingers, and others not so much haha. Im just wondering what other people think.

This varies a bit with the player, the tone they are trying to produce and their nail shape. If a player is using the left side of their nail as a ramp, the hand will tend to be slightly off perpendicular. Too much of a diagonal for arps will cause the nail to slide along the string too much.
