Andy, thanks for the link. A good website, it lets you thumb through the books and lets you here sound samples. It looks like a very good comprehensive method and the price is very reasonable, both volumes w/CD cost about $50.00. Phil

Pat;
Can Portland Music get it for you? I think they are still around. I have a few stories about them which are good, which date back to the 1960's.
Schott Music Corporation c/o Warner Bros. Publications US Inc. P.O.B. 4340 15800 NW 48th Avenue Miami 33014 Tel.: (+1) 305-521-1604 Fax: (+1) 305-521-1638 Email eamdc@eamdc.com
I have bought music from them for decades for piano. If you have a problem let me know as two of my friends own the largest music literature store in Northern California. I think our family owns half the literature published for piano, guitar, flute and other instruments.

Andy, Interesting find, I was pondering the Conde image and it looks like a computer generated drawing, notice the thick ebony at the 1st fret. Who would go to the lengths of drawing a Conde when a good ol' photo does the job! Cheers Jim.

Download the Tangos and Rumba Workshops. On the Tangos, the cante is on the right channel, so you can play to the cante with or without the guitar. It’s really cool.

If anyone purchases these methods, let me know how they are. It looks as though book 1 might be too basic, but I'm not sure if you get book 2 with the CD (if you can even find book 2!).

Scott,
I just got an email from Gerhard about volume II. As I thought, it's not available in the US yet. Here is the email:
That's right. Warner Bros (Distributor in the USA) is a really slow elephant. I think they have much to do with selling all the B.Spears songbooks. My Vol II is out since March. Be patient - I will inform you.
Sorry - Saludos cordiales. Gerhard Graf-Martinez
Scott, I also just got the Graf-Martinez, Rumba CDROM. It doesn't come with the music in book form (it's all on the CDROM), but it is really cool. Each Rumba has a bunch of videos of Gerhard playing. You can also play back just the solo guitar or the rhythm guitar(s). I don't know much about him, but he is a very good guitarist and from what I can tell, his material is first rate.

Scott,
Here is the deal. The workshops that you looked at from his site are just freebees that he post for all to see (marketing). Both the Rumba and Tangos workshops are pretty cool. I took screen shots of the tab from the Tangos and am learning it now. I am going to record the solo and rhythm tracks, then overlay the canta from the workshop. The canta is on the right channel so you can isolate it. I already recorded the intro and sent it to Florian. He may try to put it into the Tangos project.
As of now, he does not have a CDROM version of the Tangos, but he does for Rumba. That's the one I just got. It's like the workshop you looked at, but has several rumbas with much more information (videos, etc). I got the Rumba CDROM from Ebay. The folks I got it from were musicinyourlife.com. I don't think they show this product on their web site, but if you email Jim at jbritt@cyberportal.net. I am sure he has it or can get it fast. Very nice folks and ultra fast service.

Pat;
I bought the Rumba book with two CD's one fast and one slow. about two years ago. There are no videos only sound. Good material, and an interesting way to teach using paper and sound.
Over the past few years I have e-mailed him and he has responded quickly. Seems like a good teacher and interested in helping others.
Even though part of the book is dedicated to Manitas de Plata, the right hand technique is very interesting! Combine this book with the Juan Serrano books that contain Rumba and you have many good right hand techniques for that form!
