I know you are knowledgeable on the subject from the alpha to the omega as you have told us but IMHO this is the essence of the genre, in a broad sense..
Folk music indigenous to the area around the Mediterranean basin characterized by singing supported by percussive or plucked instruments of various kinds. Edit I should have said string instruments as the violin is also featured.

I love to listen to everything that is pure and honest..... combining two artist who speak totally different languages and totally corrupt each others qualities to me is the very opposite of essence :-)

Picky, picky. Yes they were very different but that just made it all the more exciting. Tomatito never so much as glanced at his fingerboard so caught up in the moment and the singer was scintillating to me. It was a rare moment. I tried without success to identify the region from the headdress but was unable to find on that matched except the Saudi Arabia desert dwellers which might have be the one. In disparaging that sequence, you are disparaging Tomatito who I think know a lot more about his business than you ;-)
Nowdays with communications and ease of travel fusion is inevitable One doesn't need to go back very far in time to realize that. The moment in Vengo is very brief and both performers were on their game so to accuse them of impurity and making a terrible scene is ludicrous. Thanks for the info on the singer.
So what is Tomatito is supposed to do when Tony Gatlif asks him to accompany Sheikh Al tuni ? Oh no, I couldn't possibly do that, it would be desecrating the sacred art of flamenco. Fortunately these two masters are not so deluded.
I meant declining it from a viewers point of view.......to see it from the bright side, at least you start to like some other flavors... a couple of weeks ago you still declined Paco de Lucia's "La Barrosa" for doing no justice to the lyrical qualities a guitar has to offer :-).
My inability to compete with such an advanced brain as yours and a total incompetence to copy and paste a picture or two.........!!
Hell it's as easy as falling off a log ole buddy.. Position your arrow or pointer whatever it is on the image, right click, select "save image as" from the menu, and to make it easier to retrieve change the description to something easy to remember. Step 2 is to open an account with a picture hosting service such as http://imageshack.us/ and upload the picture there. You will get a choice of links; use the direct and copy it to your post. There is a little left out of the foregoing but if you buck up your courage and be willing to fumble around a bit without fear of catastrophic failure, nothing to it. Photobucket is better as it allows videos but a little more cumbersome than Image shack. http://s1183.photobucket.com/
You really are such a sweet hearted old codger....how easy it is to be wrong, and often on so many levels don't you think? Yet I shall swallow my pride and use your advice to achieve the required result. Thankyou......now to continue with my catastrophic fumble!
