That sweet valve/tube amp sound
Been looking for a cheap all-valve amp for my Strat and found a Fender Excelsior on eBay just down the road, so I will be picking it up soon.
Anyway, one of the guys reviewing the amp on YouTube also posted a performance using the amp live. I was quite taken with the sound and also these guys' combo. The guitar work and vocals are quite beautifully measured.

just watched this german review and its seams that it has a fantastic price performance ratio (i assume you paid something around 150 pounds for a used one?) and interesting sound colors which you can achieve simply through those 3 different inputs (one is accordion ;) and the volume knob (simply more compression/distortion with higher volume)...... The design is "interesting" :)

A bit more than that, but there are none for sale in the UK at a sensible price and it is discontinued, so I think I did ok. Haven't got it yet but I will be upgrading the tubes and speaker and installing a proper tone pot.

Forget the digital modeling amps... tewwwwwwbs are where it's at! I don't care how high the fidelity goes in the digital world, never will it match a saturated tube tone.

I picked it up today and got lucky. Just over a year old, unmarked and boxed. He had already swapped in a matched pair of ECC83 tubes which saves me £20 and as it was a pickup, there were no shipping costs.
So far, very happy. The 15inch speaker helps with the low end and the tube sound is very warm after my Line6.
