Hi From Louisiana

Hi! I'm Terri from Louisiana.

I decided to take up flamenco guitar as part of my second act. I have less than two years until my 50th birthday, and I decided to being enjoying the things I've put off until now.

I have absolutely no guitar experience and no musical experience outside of seventh grade flute class. However, flamenco has fascinated me for decades, following a PBS performance of this spellbinding dancer and mesmerizing guitarist. Years of Youtube vids later, here I am ready to rumba! Er, no... I actually seem to like other forms of flamenco better, but you get my drift I hope.

My Yamaha 172Sf is due to arrive by Wednesday 11-6. I got a great deal for a new one off Ebay, $60 less than usual for some reason with the 'make an offer' feature. Please let it be okay!

I'm talking to instructors who teach via Skype - the usual suspects I reckon. If anyone has warnings, please PM me. If recommendations and praises, please post.

Thanks, and I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.

Welcome aboard and congratulations!
I think your going about everything the right way indeed.
That being said, saying "I've never played guitar but I think I'll pick up flamenco" is a bit like saying "I never learned math, I think I'll pick up physics" lol
Stay at it though and listen to your teachers and you'll have a very fulfilling hobby.

Hi Shroomy,
I'm just north of Baton Rouge. LA. About 1 1/2 hours north of New Orleans.

Where are you?
