Flamencos = smokers

Any theories on why almost every flamenco artist smokes cigarettes?

Cuz they are addicting due to the drug nicotine? Nervous Habits turn to addiction pretty fast...like that annoy rasgueado noise, foot stomping, and shouting they always do.

Turron makes a very strong point. There is an additional risk to accurate navigation and, indeed, loss of the camino, if the cigarette is extinguished.

Why do flamenco guitarists smoke? Because they can use a cigarette to measure the action of their guitars.

Why do flamenco singers smoke? It is the only way to get la voz afilla.

Why do flamenco dancers smoke? Beats me.
