Question about compas

Hi guys,

Is it typical for the compas to fluctuate tempo speed throughout the progression of a song? I'm a beginner. If so, would this make it practical to attempt to play full pieces using a flamenco metronome?

Thanks

solea, siguiriya, tientos, farruca: yes
alegria, solea por buleria, buleria, tangos, fandangos de Huelva, sevillanas etc etc: no

Having said that, a lot depends on context - with a dancer the compas will be more set. Also it's still beneficial to practice for instance siguiriya and solea with a compas backing even if you don't plan to play as metronomically in the end.

Compas has nothing to do with tempo.
