Its a quandary isn't it, how to progress, make those personal ,giant steps forward with our playing in a way that works for us as individuals whilst trying to retain something personal in our playing style....something of us. There is always the perfect way, often someone else' s style which is accessable via all the teaching/learning courses or methods available but its often ' OF 'someone else ,and like what we choose to listen to or what brand of or model of guitar we choose, its a very personal choice.....we all hear things differently I guess. Now there are plenty of mind blowingly good players out there who can inspire us to the point of obsession .....and as people we can be so easily drawn or led ,sometimes wrongly ,in a direction that may not be good for us. And so ,our thirst for that knowledge, style, technique can make us blind and totally lead us in the wrong direction and to the wrong answers or remedy to our current dilemma. As people I guess we all want to share how we got to where we are as players of the guitar for example and when we see a question to which we can help ( possibly), we are all keen to share our knowledge with the asker and the others who we know will be listening/ watching. Now this is where it starts to get messy.....who is right/wrong and why blaa blaa bla. We all think we have the perfect solution to a question but often we dont .....because we don't know the asker. And then the arguments start, who is right, who is wrong, well I've played for 50 years, so what I'm a pro.....I'm gypsy so its in my blood.....I'm just perfect so listen to me ....the list is endless the reasons are endless and often the arrogance is totally endless. I have to wonder why we can't listen to all opinions without attacking. I made a suggestions the other day which was attacked by another member.....their reply was confrontational from the outset.....it really pissed me off cause all I had suggested to a new player was not to force a technique, try the options and go with what's most comfy...christ learning this stuff is hard enough without crippling yourself in the process !! But I could be wrong. I may have misunderstood their tone, could have been a cultural difference in an answer or it could have just been a rude and aggressive belittling point aimed at me. Its also hard enough for us all because we are all just different and that difference has to outline the need for different approach, different levels different results. We all want to push ourselves ,some more than others as we all have different goals and reasons as to why we do this ,but we should all I think ,push our suggestions in a different way and grasp hold of the reality that we ain't always right..... ...Rightly or wrongly, stuffed if I know ...don't even remember why I typed this diatribe of opinionated bull in the first palace Best to you all pink

I have allways trouble to find the right words of what I want to say, also to understand exactly what somebody else means. A forum on the internet is very bad to communicate right, 80 percent of communication on a normal way is non verbal. Always, alway, if something bad happens on the foro I think, " if we or they would know each other, they were possible frends" Well, there is no other thing with so much worldwide information so near by the hand, than this foro, so we heave to cooperate with it. Mostly I have short posts, this one is a bit longer with a nice story....... Buddha once brought an Elephant to a monestery of blind monks. The blind monk who felt the ear said " ah! An elephant is nice fluffy, very soft" Another blind monk who touches the legg said: " no, no, all wrong! It is very stubborn and hairy" The next monk who felt the big tooth said: " you must be crazy! An Elephant is very hard, smooth with totally no hair," Have a nice day guys and girls!
