Hi from Edinburgh

Hi I've just joined the forum after starting to learn Flamenco for the last few months. I've been playing rock guitar for about 20 years but after a visit to Madrid last year and seeing a flamenco performance that moved me to tears I knew I had a new calling.

I realise that I am totally back to basics with learning flamenco and I can expect another 20 years of practice before I could consider myself anywhere near passable but I'm going to give it a shot. I've been immersing myself in Paco de Lucia, Sabicas, Tomatito, a Solea CD used for Flamenco Dancers and my personal favorite Vicente Amigo (especially Poeta which gives me goose bumps, but not 100% flamenco, I know). I need to listen to more even though it's all I listen to these days!!!

I've been going to lessons in Edinburgh, which started out as classical but quickly moved to flamenco as it was clear that is the music that spoke to me. I've also got a couple of books that seem to complement each other quite well:
1. Juan Martins - El Arte Flamenco de la Guitarra (love the explainations of the feeling of flamenco in this book as well as some of the music, but gets quite hard quite quickly)
2. Graf-Martinez - Flamenco Guitar Method, Volume 1 (great explanation of technique & exercises which is really helping my Rasgueo which I found near impossible at first)
3. Juan Martins - Play Solo Flamenco Guitar (love the graded approach to this book and feels like you are making good progress reasonably quickly)

I've also just been lucky enough to have a couple of trips to Sevilla recently. I saw some great flamenco and had a guitar lesson at Casa De la Guitarra and also recently purchased an Antonio Fernandez F1 Flamenco guitar from Sevilla Musical which looks and sounds amazing. If anyone has any further details of the luthier of this guitar I'd love to know some more as I'm struggling to find any info online.

Anyway, Hi to all. If anyone is in the Edinburgh/Glasgow area and has any shows coming up I'd love come see some more live Flamenco.
