RE: Blog of Paco de Lucia with videos (in reply to tvpacodelucia)
That is really nice but..
Man, you REALLY should take down those three 1984 videos, there's a high pitched thing in there that went straight into my ears and Iam not sure if it went away yet.
Iam not joking.
edit: I really wanted to hear Solo Quiero Caminar. Is there another version of the same thing with a different audio?

Actually i find the "bite" and overall hifi-quality of these recordings quite refreshing compared to many other video recordings covering this period.... in fact one of the reasons i stopped visiting his shows halfway the 90ties was the extremely bad sound quality that left the speakers after amplification. These recordings almost sound like a direct tap from the mixing board for private use..... so thanks very much for posting this link :-).

This is how an officially released 30 minute video from around 1980 sounds... probably one of the reasons why it was never re-released on dvd. I agree above channel is to salted as far as the high pitch thing is concerned (it does indeed have a parasitic touch) but i guess when using an external equalizer it's more easy to build a decent sound from that than from video's like this (which nevertheless is one of my favorite PDL recordings... my own tape doesn't have that much image problems as the one i found on youtube and i hope to upload that better version one day).

Erik, this Bulerías you posted are from the same 30 minutes video that also contains a Soleá, Cueva del Gato, Entre dos Aguas and Rio Ancho, right? These other 4 performances are posted on youtube with much better sound and video quality than this Bulerías. It would be great if you could upload that one, since there are a few bits and falsetas I want to learn from there but I can't figure out all the little details from such a bad quality video.

Yes it is.... i don't think the sound quality of the other tracks is much better then the bulerias, but you can indeed find them on youtube with much better image (or better said, less video-hickups). The copy i own is substantially better and i am indeed planning to share it on youtube one day. In fact i already did an attempt in that direction, only to find out my mac was not able to process imported dvd tracks without special software. My brother installed the necessary tool and explained me how to use it, but when i was left to my own limited computer/software knowledge i run into operating problems again. Not sure when my brother will find the time to demonstrate me the ins and outs of dvd import again. On top i want (have to try) to open a second youtube account to avoid possible legal (your banned from youtube) problems ....1 for my own recordings/compositions and 1 for "copyright material"....so it's in the pencil but don't hold your breath (have to find that dvd again as well between stags of similar looking dvd's sleeves).

It's about time, true that there are many videos on the internet, it comes to getting the best, you hear better, sure with time more will appear very good quality, I have yet to convert concerts ...

cool thanks. Some of my favorite falsetas are in that buleria trio with cañizares and banderas, it would be a great source except for the horrible camera work!
Also the tanguillo guitar solo was interesting and a rare thing for paco to use as a solo.
And the Rondeña from that concert had that little bit from his very first album at 3:05.
