During the dreaded "ruben wars" he played a very negative role and most likely got kicked off by administration. Best to just laugh this stuff off and not make a big deal. True artists never need to advertise themselves in such ways, just blow this stuff off and don't let it get to you amigo.
Godfather of Flamenco in Australia? And here I thought that that sort of BS was relegated to my lovely state of Minnesota. Our local flamenco community is pretty festering and inbred, unfortunately, and these sort of titles are common over here. As are inflated egos and laughably obvious inferiority complexes (which is usually the same thing!). I don't want to name any names, but such titles are often employed by individuals who are trying to compensate for their inability to actually play the guitar -- basically, like Ricardo said, a true artist doesn't need to advertise himself like that. Good musicians let their playing speak for itself.
