Paco Peña solo recital
Hi all,
Not too long ago we were talking about Paco Peña and his group. And that he rarely plays solo anymore. Today I saw he plays Solo in Amsterdam Concertgebouw at 28 September 2013.
A rare opportunity to hear him play solo in one of the worlds best acoustic music halls.

Actually they state he is playing mainly solo, which is still a lot more than usual. I guess he probably includes some duo and trio arrangements as well (many of his record tracks are multi-leveled as well). Still sounds like a great and rare opportunity to see the maestro in full glory once more.

Yes, stupid of me ..obviously all his recordings are multi leveled (with such incredible depth and subtlety that at first ear most tacks seems to be dubbed in the chorded parts, which is not the case:-)
I mend indeed multi-tracked, mixing 2 or more guitars. I guess you rightfully object to the worth many. Quite recently i decided to ear-play one of his pieces, only to found out it was dubbed and impossible to perform on 1 instrument. I guess that was still in my mind when i entered the worth many. I just run true a couple of records and only a limited amount of tracks was (partly) dubbed. Obviously there is his famous 3 voiced farruca in Dm and the others are the usual suspects like sevillanas, zorongo, verdiales, tangos (in most cases soft background chords "pimping up" the solo version).
I know he made several very good duo versions later on but that's not the issue here. As far as his records are concerned backing tracks are indeed restricted to a very limited amount of tracks. Running true a couple of those old records proved once again his incredible skills as a performer/arranger/composer. It's a shame his records from the 70ties and early 80ties are out of print and that they were never released on cd (with the exception of 2 records who are combined on a cd called fabulous flamenco).
Imo he is only second best to PDL and in some aspects he even outclassed him.

I think you’ll find another guitarist is credited on most of those albums (the original versions, anyway); Willie Basilisco on the zorongo, for instance, and of course it was Tito Losada on Azahara.

I only checked some of the self made cd versions that lack that info. They are hardly playable dude to the ink of the labels that destroys the data :-(
I have all his pre azahara records but can't play them anymore. I really should offer my amplifier for reparation 1 of these days because i haven't been able to play a record for over 15 years. I guess i molested it by cross-lincking various input/output channels so i could switch between stereo, LL and RR.
From the farruca i know he did al 3 voices himself :-) and your right, 2th voices were always mentioned on the records. I guess Azahara was the last record i frequently played. The Losada's were actually the reason i stopped visiting Paco's concerts for years. It started out nice in the beginning, but the more Losada's joined in (and the more years they stayed) the worse it goth. They were all excellent players, but during Paco's concerts all they communicated was total lack of participation..... 1 was playing contra's all the time (with paco "hindering" playing solo's) and the other played picado's all the time (with paco "hindering" playing solos). If i remember well the 3th Losada did play in tune with Paco but the total picture was a complete disaster. Fortunately Paco got writ of them later on. Replacements Rafael Montilla and Paco Arriaga show what real talent can contribute if you use it the right way :-).

I spoke to Otto Vowinkel, the guitarbuilder and also the organisator of the concert, and he told me the concert is mainly solo,and maybe he would do some tunes with somebody else.
