Simon's guitar

Simon,
What is the status on the guitar you were building? I hope it didn't end up in your fireplace.

Hi Phil, I've just finished a long project at work and now have some time off to pick up my RV and finish off the guitar. I will post piccies.

Hi Simon!

I have planned to built a guitar in the future too,
what wood are you using?
I runned into a interesting site too.
Perhaps you allready know it, but if not, here it is!

Now that is an interesting site (danke veel) and it says

I recommend that you read Roy Courtnall's book "Making Master Guitars" and William Cumpiano's "Guitarmaking-Tradition and Technology". This will get you familiar with the process
Those are my only two books and I am building a Santos Hernandez from Courtnall's book (I think El Zurdo is making the same one).

This is an old photo gallery, I need to update it...

Go for it Peter, it's not too difficult.

Hey Peter, I'm actually building a guitar patterned after a flamenco by Marcelo Barbero. I'm also build a Miguel Rodriguez classical through the online apprentice website. You had to reserve a spot a long time ago. There's about 40 people including myself in the course.

It's a lot of fun. I want to eventually build full time.

hi Tom and Simon,
Perhaps next year I am going to Spain to do a course guitarbuilding together with my brother in law.
I try to collect information now, and figure out what kind of guitar I will built.
A negra, or one with maple, 650mm, 660mm, perhaps a zero fret, that kind of things.
So I enjoy reading and seeing your adventures!
good night, Peter.

Keep it simple, a blanca (cypress) is easier to plane than rosewood, forget maple for now. Ebony fingerboard, 650mm, no zero fret.

A guitar building course would help but it's not that tough to start on your own and prepares you well for a course as you learn best from your own mistakes
