I really want to get hold of a tab of Enrique de Melchor's beautiful Taranta, Vivencias. Affedis has it, and Alain Faucher's tabs are always accurate. But now I am looking I am wondering about getting a couple more tabs to bring the price down and get the freebies.
So any recommendations ? the Paco stuff is not listed so I am not sure if that is an option. I am quite interested in stuff like Manuel Silveria's dance accompaniment for Alegrias, but I need the audio and there's no way I am paying out for a cassette.
Let me know what else is great, I have most of the Encuentro DVDs and some Sabicas, Nino Ricardo, etc so thinking mainly of stuff I would never have come across.

the Paco stuff is still available, just not officially, surely if you email Alain, you can arrange getting those... the alegría accompaniment tab is really good, if you decide to order, i can send you the mp3... the rest is totally up to your taste, i always preferred to pay for long and complicated modern pieces, to get as much value for my money as i could...

I have the tab and audio. Alain sent me the audio on a cassette when i bought it. It is very muddy live recording but the playing is great IMO. Very solid and traditional stuff. I still use a lot of it today. It's a long solea.
I have the Quique Paredes and Vicente soto bulerias as well. I didn't get a lot out of that one though. I preferred other things.

Very timely post. I have been contemplating getting Ramon Amador's dance accompaniment for Soleá for quite some time now and was about to ask about it. I love his accompaniment to the Farruco family dancing (Chocolate singing) on the "Flamenco" DVD by Carlos Saura. Do you (or anyone) know if this is somewhat similar? I was hoping to learn a bit about accompaniment from this transcription. I took a few falsetas from the DVD but would like to learn more. I'm sorry to hear the recording is not that great and a "tape" is somewhat a problem. I would need to get a tape player. A CD would have been much easier. I asked Alain Faucher about putting out a CD or two with all of the private live recordings on it some time ago and he said good idea and he would consider it but I won't hold my breath. Anyway it's just about time for my annual transcription purchase so if you could clear this up I would appreciate it. Thanks As far a the original question goes? What do you like and what would you like to learn? I am a big supporter of Alain Faucher. He does great work. He has done much for the flamenco community.

I love most flamenco, but am mainly looking for material that I can play and use so its great to hear that the dance material is good.
A lot of the material on the Affedis site is hard or impossible to track down as audio so thats why I thought I would ask out. A bit of searching on Youtube is helping, just listening this and enjoying it.

You will be able to learn some nice and playable general falsetas, and also variations for escobilla. It is 20 min long with plenty of rhythm strumming patterns suitable for dance.
You will also learn solea (alcala) letra structure from the Solea transcription.

i guess he made transcriptions from tapes or records that have since been deleted and unavailable, but i don't really understand for example why he puts falsetas from completely unavailable old vinyl in the books he has published recently (solea por bulerias/medio and siguiriyas).
some things you can find to download that aren't available on cd, and some things you can find on lp on todocollecion, but some stuff just doesn't seem to exist anywhere.
and then there are the "public recitals" type of things - can't understand why he transcribes from completely obscure unavailable sources

I guess my thoughts on that are: 1) If a "public recital" is that good, then perhaps it's worth preserving and transcribing; and 2) As long as Faucher has an audio copy and is willing to make it available, then I guess there's no problem.
Regarding the latter, though, it'd be nice if he would make a sample available. As it stands, I have no idea if the "public recital" material from Gerardo is more or less the same material as that on the Encuentro DVD.

it's more or less the same, the falsetas are the same, the orders are different... it's not a question of making it "available", he offers that upon buying the transcription, but you would want to hear the stuff before buying...(incidentally i bought two of these without having ever heard the original) this is one of the reasons why i've put youtube links to all the tabs i offer, i think it's helpful in deciding what you want to purchase, and you may also discover new stuff...
