why not listen to cd a lot? And then jam a long to loops of difrent palos.
Meregue de cordoba has good vids but thats basic guitar.
A good thing is to actually do palmas along with your favorite cd.

Look for cajon instructional videos - I got a good one in Cadíz

hey, thanks for the replies you guys. i guess what im looking for are all those variations that guitarists have-all those extras that "spice" up the compas, so to speak. maybe, as some of you have stated already, it's just a matter of closely listening. although, i tend to be an extremely visual learner, so a video would help. maybe i'll try those videos by moraito, chicuelo, and riqueni.

Pena boring?! He's my most respected flamenco guitarist and I prefer his style by far. Even compared to PdL, whose music I just can't enjoy much.

As for videos, Oscar Herrero has a series on that. Each set consists of a tab book and a dvd where he teaches a specific palo. There are up to 3 sets per palo I think, eg. Alegrias I, Alegrias II etc. I couldn't afford them anyway so I've no idea how good they are.

But brainwashing yourself with CDs help alot. Clapping along to CDs and jamming with compas tracks are also very very helpful. Never underestimate the power of messing around, you're actually learning. Just a year ago I had no idea on compas, but now I'm getting it after all this hard work at it. Don't give up, it'll come to you.

Good luck,
Cheston
