Luthier Anselmo Solar Gonzalez?

Has anyone here ever heard of the Spanish luthier Anselmo Solar Gonzalez? He apparently worked under Santos Hernandez briefly before the latter died and then Anselmo worked in the shop for Santos's widow for awhile and then started his own shop. But I haven't been able to find out any other info. on him as a luthier. One of his flamenco guitars is for sale on ebay but I've never heard of his work as a luthier.

I don't think that ebay guitar was actually made by Anselmo but it may be a bought-in guitar that he sold through his shop. For the guitars he made himself, Anselmo used labels that had his full name printed on them, his shop address and were also dated. He used a different headstock crest as well.

Anselmo didn't work for Santos or his widow but his brother Fernando, a violin maker, did for about a month before Santos died and worked for his widow on and off for several more years. There's a photo in Manuel Rodriguez' book, taken after Santos' passing, of Fernando standing outside the Santos shop along with Marcelo Barbero and Manuel Rodriguez, the father of the book's author. Fernando apparently did repair work for the widow and the elder Rodriguez was a finisher.

Hey, thanks for the information. I learned something new. I have the Rodriguez book at home, will have to look for the picture. On the label-- weird-- as the name Anselmo is written on it for the guitar on eBay and the signature matches other labels he apparently signed. Guitar making and then guitar selling often seem so enigmatic. (Or maybe it's just the wine.)
