Johnny,

I'm able to access the contact page by going to
flamencobooks.com->How To Order->Contact Us.
The Contact Us button is at the bottom of the page.

If you can't get through. send me a PM and I'll contact
Paco and inquire about the book availability.

Thanks Jim,

You can fill the contact form in on the site but then it gives an error when you submit it via contact us. It's worth letting him know if you have his details.

Cheers

Johnny

It's a very entertaining and educational read, at least I found it so. I hope you enjoy it, what a lovely foro this is.

I'm in the middle of Seeking Silverio at the moment and loving it (thanks to Orson for selling me his copy). And I have Paco's other books coming from the US soon. I think I'm a Paco Sevilla fan :)

International cooperation, baby, that's where it's at!

I'm very happy that it arrived unscathed. Makes my day, actually. 👍🙂👍

I'm about half way through his book. What strikes me more than anything is the things people had to go through in an attempt to learn this art 50-60 years ago. Even when I started in the early 80's there were few resources available. No internet. Very limited supply of sheet music, few records, even fewer teachers outside of Spain.

These poor guys basically fumbled their way around for weeks just trying to get a grip on things. Today you have schools teaching flamenco and Spanish.....one stop shopping.

Today your phone has video of thousands of performances by artists from today and the past. Teachers online everywhere. Transcriptions too. Guys falling all over themselves trying to get people to buy their stuff. Artists creating videos merely for likes and views.

180 degree shift. What's next?

At least, that's what they'll *tell* you the chip is for...

And, for context... http://www.foroflamenco.com/tm.asp?m=356778&p=1&tmode=1&smode=1

They already have that “Kemper profiling amp”, where they get the original heads of famous recordings and “clone” the sound then sell you the cheap package to dial in on your own kemper. WE used to have to fiddle with knobs and pedals and track down Lee Jackson etc. I could imagine a future where we get this plastic guitar and plug in “Tomatito package” and we just start playing the thing and it sounds like Tomatito is playing.

Me too. But the amazing amount of information has let to a generation of whizz guitarists who do not understand either the culture or flamenco as Paco learned it. He knew the importance of the culture and el cante, just as you and I learned. Being a whizz guitarist and knowing how to accompany el cante are two conceptos different. One is flamenco, the other is not.

100% - His experience as related in his book was incredible. He knew from the beginning he wanted to learn to accompany cante and he did what he could to learn about the culture. Somehow he knew what was vital from the beginning. To be 20 years old and have the luxury of time ......
