i can almost imagine a click and clack puzzler question coming from this discussion. a luthier with a bag of salt, obfuscation, inky shadows--all the components of a good puzzler question except for maybe an old dodge dart.
we wait the required 7 days until click and clack return. ray proceeds to tell us how the luthier with his bag of salt saves the world from guitars in need of his special salt treatment. tom proceeds to say that word that has made him famous. BOGUS
Anders has been here almost since day one helping people.
My post was directed toward Charles Vega, and you have no right to try and damage my character for your own purposes, my friend. I give what I know, as I'm a giving person, but you are failing to be a part of this thread for the knowledge or whatever it might be so you attack the messenger.
And I was not aware that any small group or individual persons owned this list as their pedestal to preach their ongoing presence.
This is not about holding court but about sharing information. It seems that You like to hear yourself preach so you turn up the microphone and hurt everybody's ears... but you are adding very little information that can help people on this thread.
I was hoping this wouldn't turn into a shouting match, as I'm a person who cherishes peace with my fellow man....
but attacks of this nature are certainly not warranted nor enjoyed, so if other builders and persons who are interested want any more information, I would rather conduct the information sharing from my e-mail address: tguitars@texas.net
I think this forum has a lot of potential for sharing information but due to a small part of it that caters to those who jealously guard their position here, it has become a nuisance rather than an exiting time of sharing, for this builder.
Quite unlike you, I do not have, nor have I ever claimed to possess, any secrets.
I am no longer making guitars. The last one I made was four or five years ago. My lutherie activities these days are primarily focused on restoration work on violin family instruments.
I'm going to join Anders and from now on I will just ignore you and your self-serving posts on this and on any other forums. I refuse to have anything more to do with perpetuating this nonsense.
I do not have, nor have I ever claimed to have, any secrets.
So, you follow me onto this thread and criticize my sharing of information when I was trying to get this out for every builders posterity and interest?
I have every little time to write my techniques down and I find it more interesting to share in a mixed forum rather than just type out a private book.
But this seems to offend certain people who think I'm grand-standing. Charles, you are absolutely wrong about this and I'll not react about it with anything more to say.
Information is information and I can't believe that you've forgotten everything you knew about guitar building.
I'm thinking we should let this thread die. It started out with some interesting ideas (note I did not say "information"), and has now devolved into the typical shouting match that I had mentioned earlier. There's just too much ego being pushed around here. I haven't been here long enough to support whether Tom is simply repeating himself or not. There's very little info being shared here and a lot of bad blood, kind of like the presidential election here in states. I feel like this little girl (not sure how to imbed this):
If you have no more interest in continuing this thread, and you speak for the majority here, then I would agree. There are three people here who have voiced their opinion against what I'm sharing, perhaps for no other reason than I'm taking time away from their dialog of personal interest.
I can understand that Anders has spent much time here, even as a catalyst for selling his guitars. And this, I don't mind one bit, as I'm not here to permanently capture an audience for my guitar sales, which are so few now, that I have no interest for sales on this forum.
I'm mainly into building about one guitar every 2 months, and these generally go to music companies rather than independent sales, with the understanding that I don't sell outside the US.
So, my main concern for this thread is to give out information to help the art, pretty much trying to level the playing field for builders who are interested in the techniques I have to share. And I have a lot more to share but if the list members are not interested, then it would be fruitless for me to continue with it.
I might as well write a book or make a video, but it won't be soon, and there is a possibility that I would not be able to finish out my career with much help to builders standard traditional techniques. I'm at the age past retirement and I have nothing to gain from this but knowing that I could possibly help another builder gain information that helps.
And Anders seems to be offended that I would give my opinion against using sound ports. I have nothing against sound ports if the builder chooses to use them. My opinion is that I don't feel the need for them, and I gave some reasons why I don't need them.
Even Bob Ruck has a opinion form to either request the sound port or choose the traditional build, on Richard T's website.
And I never try and attack a person's character but stay with arguments, for or against a technical build. I believe this is the proper way to conduct dialog or debate, and it makes no sense to slander a person; in fact it's very childish that people can't get along and be polite, even in their disagreements.
And this is not about passion for certain aspects of the art but downright ugly behavior, when most of our parents taught us better.
I'm not here to teach people how to be more polite but to share information. And if this list is not interested then I beg your leave.
Trying to be the angel of the show. The only one who shares. The only one who knows. The only one with good behaviours.
You´re a troll. You just come here to stirr up things. You never do anything else on this forum or on other guitar forums. Same old story. Same show again and again. Just repeating repeating repeating repeating. You´re a nightmare and a mega waste of time. I´ve been here for 9,5 years, I have had my things with some, but its always been fixed with humour and a bit of riffy raffy and after that we could be better friends. But you..... OMG I simply cant stand you and your ways. You´re the only person in my 20 years of internet that I have REALLY disliked.

I don't like to be disliked but what do I have to do to make you like me? Nothing because our natures clash, not our work ethic.
I don't come on any list unless I have something of value to share. I'm not a chat specialist about everything under the sun but what particular topic I have to share.
This seems foreign to you, as you may think that I need to kiss your ring to get your approval for my time here.
The truth is; I'm too busy with my building practice to be here every minute of the day, although I applaud those who really have an interest in this forum.
But your constant ha-rang about my being here and sharing technical knowledge, seems to me to be out of balance with a person who wishes to be considered a fair player on this forum.
I set up this thread to share information about fine tuning and top tension. This I have done and I feel satisfied that I haven't stepped on any toes in the process.
I would welcome yours or any other builders technical input concerning these issues but to come here and slander my person for no good reason but to say you don't like me. That hurts, and I believe it has no place among peers who genuinely desire to improve their art.
