I think Der Jung tuners are a real bargain. When Gotoh first started we could to buy their tuners for $10-$12 dollars and now Der Jung is in a similar position. Their tuners have doubled in price since we first found them and I'm sure they'll become as overpriced as Gotoh, Festuro, Schaller and all the rest in the near future. A good set of tuners should never be more than a few dollars. They are simply not that complicated.
Ah, those are them orsonw. Thank you. There are on a Sanchis Lopez FExtra and I think they work very well. Interesting to look at. I'm wondering how they will hold up.

I've noticed there are one or 2 Ebay sellers who are in China that apparently sell Der Jung tuners. But the weird part is that they don't include the words "Der Jung" in their listing. The part numbers are almost the same (except for the letters "DJ") and the tuners are clearly the same in their photos. I suppose there's a small chance they could be fake? But I highly doubt it.
So if you search "Der Jung" in Ebay you won't get any hits! But they're there, like this one here:
Tom, do you really like the look of those. I think they are cheapo flashy and take away the elegance of a pretty headstock. A tuner should imho be elegant and not atract atention.
I have bought a lot of stuff from Taisamlu, he is a favourite. I'm not personally keen on the pheonix ones either. Be carefull when looking at the chinese tuners, some of them have the pattern painted on rather than engraved and it is not easy to tell from the pictures. I got some and was disappointed ant the painted detail, but they work fine. The Chinese definitely have a different aesthetic taste

I thought they were interesting. Never had seen them before. They are ok. Would I use them on my own guitars? no. I agree, I don't want the tuners to be the focal point of my head design.
der jung does make some gawdy (imo) looking motifs but some with a subtle motif and nice color. i have used this model on two guitars with great success. i currrently have a "rubner" style on a cordoba classical guitar. all sets have worked superbly and given the price one cannot complain--except that the money is going to a seller in china rather than a seller in america.
Err......well I did and they were bought specifically for something I had in mind - my last blanca, which had a dragon theme running through it. I doubt if I would buy that particular design again as I doubt if I'm going to be in demand to make any copies. That aside, the tuners work well and if you check, I'm pretty sure you can mix and match a load of combo's. Maybe slightly heavy for me weight wise. I'm tempted to see if they will sell the loose component parts so I can make my own designs for the holding frame. Good value defo. and sturdy. Not sure what they are like as a company as I bought mine from "El Mundo" in central London. I recently saw their new stock and it was a bit brash, cheap, nasty to look at but will probably work just as well.
john--ok, the seller is in taiwan but it would be nice to keep the seller's profits in america.
I agree with you but I can't afford to pay for Gilbert or Sloane tuners (is anyone else in the US making classic guitar tuners?).
At least Taiwan is one of the few democracies in that area of the world. I'd much prefer my money go to them rather than mainland China besides in my experience Taiwan products tend to be much higher quality than the mainland.
