Hi Foro, Just thought i'd introduce myself, as I've just started my flamenco journey and this forum looks like an amazing community.
My name's Monty, and like my post says i'm from Brisbane in Australia. I've played guitar on and off for years (just chord stuff) and the last 2-3 years the ukulele has been my instrument of choice. About a month ago I spontaneously bought a $160 solid top classical guitar, saw a flamenco video on youtube, and I was hooked.
So hello from down under, keep being awesome and hopefully i'll be adding to the diversity that is Foro flamenco :)

Welcome from me too.... there is a lot of stuff here for you , just a bit of looking around , and I know there are a few here that are also around Australia in general ....

Welcome Monty!
That´s indeed valuable advice above. Hurdles introduced by self-made approach can be immense / a good instructor priceless. Recommendable to find and engage one / enjoy progress to seamlessness, instead of possibly exhausting oneself for years and decades with what would appear like a Sisyphean task.
Anyway, welcome to the foro; and have fun with many great minds here!

Hi Everyone!
Thanks for the warm welcomes and friendly advice.
I havn't found a teacher as of yet, been concentrating on graduating university this semester, then once things settle down I'll probably start looking. KMMI77, seeing as you're in brissie do you know of any good teachers around??
Also, would anyone in Australia be interested in joining a regular flamenco skype group? It'd be great to hear friends play, and for friends to hear me play in a constructive environment.

thats exactly what this forum is for, u can and we do all that here...only instead of getting feedback from 2 or 3 guys from Australia u get feedback from 50 from all around the world, including Australia... its got to be better for you..
Also as mentioned KMM177 lives there and is a great player, if he teaches its worth having a chat to him about lessons
