Damn, all that work to make something look like a sticker???
So, the cedar tops...if you cut the channels right (more shallow than spruce tops), then your sticks All have to be skinner too....might as well use, I don't know, a sticker?
I gave a guitar workshop in Nicaragua and one of the kids had an ovation guitar. During the class, his rosette FELL OFF!!!!

Oh Ricardo, lest you think I have forgotten about your request, I have acquired the raw ingredients to create your rosette. I had to scour eBAy for five or ten minutes to come with the rare and precious vinyl press on rosette.
All there is left to do is cut hole in it and stick it on. I'll send it right over to DC! Wait I'll send two and you can send on to your student in Nicaragua~

Watched part 3 on Sunday as I recovered from Saturday night. Showed my wife a bit of my rosette in process and then the finished product - our reactions were pretty much the same ... WOW. One of my favorite lines is when you said that you like to be surprised at the outcome of your rosettes.
You guys preserving these techniques and methods deserve to be recognized. I really value this kind of functional art that really has a soul, and I've tried to do my part by ordering a guitar I cannot afford I know it's a hard way to make a living, but seeing this stuff and listening to you talk about your process makes me feel like a total schmuck as I sit here working my boring desk job. I truly admire guys like you, Stephen (and Anders, Andy and the rest of the talented luthiers out there).
EDIT: THANK YOU JUAN for helping Stephen with these. Really nice work. I'd be excited to see them even if they didn't include my guitar

Part 3 made me nervous. It was like watching a suspense thriller. When inlaying the rosette you have to work fast as the water in the glue will quickly begin to swell the wood fibers making it difficult to fit into the routed channel. Regardless of how many times I've done this, it always makes me a little nervous.

You're welcome! I'm glad you guys liked them. It was a lotta work making these videos, that's for sure, but well worth it. I don't think they came out too shabby for my first attempt at videography.
