Paco Pena in Washington, DC Friday, ...
For those who are interested and will be in the area, Paco Pena is performing on Friday, February 1, 2013, at George Mason University's Center for the Arts, located in Fairfax, Virginia, in the Washington, DC Metro area. I realize that Paco Pena is not "edgy" or "modern" enough for some tastes, but that is precisely why I like him so much. Of major flamenco guitarists performing today, he probably is the most "traditional." I saw him here a couple of years ago, and he put on a great show.
Cheers,
Bill

I like Paco Pena a lot, he's underrated by this forum, IMO. He is technically awesome. If I lived in the NE US I'd go see him in D.C., but I live in the NW, so that probably won't happen! Maybe he'll come to the left coast someday.

Just picked up my tickets for Paco Pena's performance on 1 February 2013, at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. The best seats are $46.00 each. Not bad for a first rate performer like Paco. According to the brochure, his performance is called "Flamenco Vivo," and it explores the development of flamenco from its most traditional to its modern iteration. Looks very good indeed!
Cheers,
Bill

Bill, I got my tix for his performance here in the MKE area 03/02/13. I've never seen him but love his style and play several of his arrangements, poorly I might add :) I agree, he is very traditional but its what I like. I can't wait to see one of the true masters of flamenco guitar!! Sig--

I really enjoy Paco Peña. I saw him a few years ago when he came through here and really enjoyed the show. I've been hoping to catch him again but it doesn't look like he's coming this way for this tour. Enjoy the show!
