what would be the difference between luthier 20 and d'addario ej45 strings in tone, longevity and tension?
I am currently using the luthiers and I feel like the treble strings would need a bit more sustain(la sonanta site specifies also these as low sustain trebles)
Other suggestions on which strings to try instead of the luthiers are welcome.

OK so I swapped the trebles to E and B d'addario ej45 and G string hi tension savarez alliance "carbon" string and now the guitar sounds much better and more lively than with the luthier trebles. I left the luthier basses for now, but will swap them later on with daddarios after they wear out.
The G string obviously is often somewhat dull on many string sets and I can recommend trying "carbon" strings if you feel like you could use more "lively and bright" string.

It all depends on the guitar. Normally I find Daddarios bland tone wise. Luthiers always brighter to me on any guitar though. And the wacky 3rd strings I'll never understand. To me the different tone of normal 3rd string is an important character of the guitar's voice...especially in flamenco when we work out fingerings for falsetas.
Different guitars like different strings. I always found Labella 820's had what Ive been after soundwise, but not every guitar I own responds the same to em.

I agree with Ricardo. I have a Gerundino Fernandez and a Manuel Adalid (both blancas), and use Luthiers on both. They produce a brighter tone than others I have tried.

I just checked the intonation on the savarez carbon and it was flat... I suppose I'll swap it back to the luthier... Next I have la bella's 820b on my string test list.
EDIT: I swapped back the luthier and it intonates OK. I guess I'll just stick to standard strings then...

OK so I swapped the luthier trebles to med tension savarez new cristal and they sound much better and sustain longer, even intonate perfectly! What surprised me also is that they sounded good the moment I installed them. If you use luthier trebles, I recommend trying new cristal trebles instead. For me they sound much better.
