Neck shape modification

Just wanted to share something that I did with a purpose in mind that ended up changing the sound of the guitar (for the better :D )

I have a cheap portuguese made "flamenco guitar" (its yellow..), an Antonio Carvalho 5F that also sells in other countries with the brand Iberica at around 300eur I guess.

Ive already done substancial modifications on this guitar but didnt expect that changing the shape of the neck would make the guitar more vibrant and punchier.

It had a "]" shape and I took out wood on both sides to make it a "D". I wasnt worried about taking to much wood because this guitar has a truss rod, but I didnt expect the sound to change either..

Is this common? Does anybody take wood out of the guitar on purpose to change the sound (besides the top)?
