Cheap DIY golpeadore suggestions?

After shelling out some $20 or so on overpriced pieces of plastic, I was hoping to get a suggestion from one of the luthiers here (estebanana maybe?) for something I can buy at any hardware store (3M or something?).

Any suggestion would be appreciated...

I spotted this two days after I spent more for a sheet of A4 golpeador from a Spanish Guitar shop.

Stringbusters are ace BTW, UK based. Scroll down a bit.

Thanks for the tips guys, I was hoping for something even more DIY.

I had that 3M from sbm but I was such a dumbass that I just put the entire thing on -- completely stifled my soundboard. I was brave enough to peel it off and now I'm too ashamed to even show you what my guitar looks like (think Willie Nelson).

Maybe I'll give it another go after seeing your sweet setup Anthony...

buy the self adhesive ones for cheap then exercise some patience as you figure out how to put it on :) In general I like run the plate up to the edge of the bridge on the bass side and 10mm past the bridge on the treble side. You can hold the thing in place using masking tape and mark out your lines to cut with a thin tipped marker pen. To avoid getting air bubbles make sure you put it on slowly working from one side to the other. That should help a wee bit
